Currency Exchange

When you get to Europe, one of the first things that you will have to do is exchange your dollars into the local currency. The first currency exchange teller that you will see in the airport will have the worst prices and you need to avoid exchanging here.

When you exchange your currency you pay a higher rate than when you sell currency back to the teller, this is how they make money. Every currency exchange teller has different rates so make sure you shop around.

The best places to get currency is out of ATM's because banks offer current currency rates and do not try to profit on exchanging. The only bad thing is that you might be charged a fee for using an ATM that is not from your bank. Some banks have no ATM fees and some, such as Bank of America and Scotia Bank, have deals with European banks where you pay no fee when use those bank's ATM's

Before you get to Europe make sure you have some local country currency with you so you can pay for a cab or buy food when you get to Europe.
